HIV /AIDS have evolved as a serious threat to human kind in a form of epidemic worldwide. Be it a developing or developed nation this has become a serious concern for the government and nongovernment agencies to control the spread of AIDS as there is no vaccine available for this syndrome. In this context research and statistics show that HPV affected men are at greater risk to get infected with HIV.

A study was performed on 2,168 men who do not have circumcision and in the age range of 18 to 24 was performed in Kenya. At the beginning of the men were examined for HPV. The men were sexually active without AIDS and were monitored for 24 months. Majority of them were under supervision for next 42 months.

The study revealed around 50 % of the population had developed HPV infection on their penis skin counting to 1,089. About 5.8 % of these HPV infected men were found to be HIV positive at the end of 42 months in comparison to 3.7 percent of population who were not HPV infected.
The Journal of Infectious diseases published the outcomes of this study in the June 1 print issue and prior to this the results were out on internet on April 23.

A news released quoted the lead author of this study Jennifer S Smith expressing that though the controlled study was carried for several factors like circumcision and other infected cases like herpes including the consideration for social and demographic factors, those with HPV infection were found to be at maximum risk of acquiring HIV. Jennifer worked as a research associate professor of epidemiology in the Gillings school of Global Public Health at University of North Carolina. Adding to this she said if this finding is supported by other studies then the outcome would prove to be instrumental in prevention and control of HIV.

Smith told, though the absence of a vaccination for HIV is the major hurdle in the path to control AIDS, if the link between HPV infection and acquiring HIV infection could be established, then it would be another step towards taking a preventive measure for this pandemic as a vaccine for specific types of HPV is available. Making a provision for vaccinating young population before they active in sexual life could be one potential step for control of HPV and in turn a control measure for AIDS by preventing the spread of HIV.

Malnutrition means not only bony and underweight slimmy figure, but pot-bellied and very fatty also. In that sense the whole world is facing malnutrition. In poor countries people are facing nutrition deficiency on the other hand in rich countries fatty people are increasing by taking fatty and oily foods, sugars and sweetmeats. Problem is that, in developing countries children are getting flabby by taking fast foods. One of the main indexes among the Americans is the gradual increase of the number of fatty and flabby children. Institute of medicine of that country informs that about one third of the American children are within the risk of bulkiness. One report of Center for Disease Control showed that the number of bulky children raised two folds among the children within the age range of six to eleven years and number of obese young adults raised three times.

As obesity increased among the children, it has gripped pressure upon child health-American Academy of Pediatrics’’ report identified. “If we don’t work with the problems of these children, this generation will get diseased day by day and may be they will pass away before their parents”-says Dr. James S. Marks, Vice-President of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which is working on the protection of the “Epidemic of childhood obesity by the year 2015.

The whole world is facing the problem of obesity among the young adults. Simultaneously, diseases related with obesity are increasing severely. Today’s society is the priest of the slim; therefore it is a matter of great mental depression among the children to be fatty in the society, which can deteriorate their mental health followed by physical health.

Continuous bombarding is going on in our society with much information about the health hazards of obesity, less or no activity and oily or fat riched food indiscretions in the so called modern lifestyle. This results in high blood cholesterol, and the risk of heart attacks in adults, is a great concern for everybody. Taking of cholesterol- lowering drugs to reduce high blood cholesterol is very common among adults, resulting from both genetic and environmental factors. But what does it mean for our new generation-our children?

It is normal that adults are supposed to maintain and control their diets, but what about the children? They are using their fat intake to make new cells inside body during the growing stage. What is the cause to be concerned about the fat in their foods? During autopsy it has been found that fat is deposited in the aorta (large artery, supplying the whole body) by the age of 3 years and in the coronary arteries (arteries of the heart) by the age of 12 years when some children were found to be the victims of sudden death.

Don’t try the force-feeding of the children. Think of your child as a healthy person with high cholesterol, rather than as a sick patient. Make your child in setting eating limits. Let your child know that healthy eating choices are not always possible. When slips happen, encourage him or her to the quick return to the low-fat diet

By teaching our children to maintain a healthy lifestyle (regular exercise, and balanced diet), we are not only maximizing their chances of a long and healthy life, but also teaching them the value of thinking about what they are doing to with their body.
